Berk Talay

Music education and performing

 

Berk comes from Turkey where he got immersed in music from a very young age. His first instrument was actually guitar and he soon realized he wanted to pursue music as a career.

 

Berk attended a Fine Arts Musical Highschool, where he also added piano and viola to the mix of instruments that he nowadays masters. The impressive selection now includes the violin, piano, viola, guitar and traditional instruments.

After his graduation from Highschool, Berk obtained his bachelor degree in Music Education at Adnan Menderes University, Aydin, Turkey. 

​

During his studies he performed a lot and specialized in classical music for piano and viola. After graduating from University, he toured around Europe, kept performing and also gave workshops on Turkish music compositions

 

Teaching

 

After Berk returned from his European tours, he worked as a music teacher in Aydin Bil College in his home country  for four years.

​

He delivered both individual and group piano, violin and guitar lessons to students ranging from 4 to 16 years old. Berk also taught basic music education and other instruments in Kindergarten, Primary School, Secondary School and High School (all part of the College). Due to his great organizational skills, he was also  tasked with organization of musical events in the school.

​

Prior to his College teaching position, Berk worked as a music teacher at some other schools where he provided lessons based on Orff Schulwerk Method and delivered training on rhythm, dance and body percussion.

​

Berk's wealth of music teaching experience also includes composing educational songs and music games for young children.
