Michele Maria Benvenuto
Michele Maria Benvenuto started his piano training at the age of eight in Soverato, Italy.
Guided by Russian teacher Natallia Hanina first and concert pianist Chiara Giordano later, Michele won 3rd place in the AMA Calabria International Piano Competition at the age of 12, and in his early teens he had the precious experience of taking part in one of M° Riccardo Muti’s Youth Orchestra workshops in Reggio Calabria.
At the age of 14 he started Music Harmony and Composition studies under the care of M° Vincenzo Palermo at Conservatorio di Musica “Stanislao Giacomantonio”, Cosenza.
Some of Michele’s original pieces have been premiered at the International Summer Music Festival in Viggiano between 2012 and 2013.
Throughout his training, Michele also became co-MD of his hometown’s vocal ensemble, “Il Mosaico Choir”.
He completed his ten years of Classical Piano studies in 2016, when he moved to Dublin, Ireland, to join the Irish Premiere BFA in Musical Theatre at the American College of Dublin.
Michele has been teaching Piano and Music Theory and Harmony since the age of 16. He has since then taught children, teens and adults, from a wide range of background, preparation and purposes.
Since the very beginning of his experience as a teacher, all his students reached top
marks in their Higher Education examinations following his training. Michele has also experience as an accompanist for instrumental exams.
Summer 2019 saw Michele working as a Musical Director and Piano teacher at French Woods Festival for the Performing Arts (Hancock, NY), one of the finest summer camp music programs in the United States.
During his MT training, Michele got to perform as a featured soloist singer on prestigious International stages such as National Concert Hall and Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin and Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center in Boca Raton, Florida (US).
He also assumed the role of Choirmaster of the ACD vocal ensemble for Russell Watson’s tour Songs From The Heart in its Irish dates in Belfast (Ulster Hall), Dublin (Bord Gais Energy Theatre) and Wexford (National Opera House).
Michele worked as Composer and MD for the ACD’s productions of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and The Honesty Cafè.
