Cormac Kenny

Cormac is a professional piano player and teacher, having completed his Bachelor’s in jazz performance in Newpark Music Centre.

Teaching

Cormac has 7 years of experience teaching piano, bass guitar, and double bass to private students between 3-72 years of age. He has also taught classes of theory and composition. In 2011 he worked in St Agnes primary school in Crumlin teaching violin and double bass to groups of children between 5-12 years of age.  From 2013 Cormac focused on giving private piano lessons.

Performing

Cormac is a multi-instrumentalist as he plays piano, bass guitar, drums, and even bodhrán. He is also a singer in the Dublin-based Laetare and Mornington Singers choirs.

Cormac has played in many different musical groups and styles, including jazz, afrobeat, funk, pop, folk, trad, Balkan and Klezmer orchestras, classical and gospel choirs.

Cormac currently leads his own 9 piece band performing his original compositions and he’s also performing with his own traditional Irish music group Hot Drop in the Pot.

Another recent project of his is the D.O.K. Piano Trio, focusing on performing jazz standards in different venues around Dublin. They have also been recently invited to perform in Luxembourg and Brighton.
